DMI College of Education is a Christian minority institution founded by Rev. Fr. J.E. Arulraj. It is situated in the western part of Chennai at Palanchur, 5 kms from Poonamallee on the Chennai–Bengaluru National Highway, in a sprawling and serene campus.
The college is a well-established institution committed to imparting quality education blended with discipline to society since 2001. The mission of DMI College of Education is to provide innovative, dedicated, comprehensive and committed teachers to the society and to serve the nation.
The B.Ed. course adopts a comprehensive and unified approach that calls for rigorous study in a variety of fields both within the discipline and in related areas. Students gain a thorough understanding of pedagogy, educational psychology and technology, along with practical exposure to classroom teaching.
Through continuous training and guided practice, B.Ed. students develop innovative teaching and learning skills, creative ideas and professional values to meet the emerging challenges in the field of education.
DMI College of Education is a Christian minority institution of higher education, approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Government of Tamil Nadu and affiliated to Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai.
The College is promoted and managed by the Sisters of the Society of DMI, founded in 1984 by Rev. Fr. J.E. Arulraj. The society manages several educational, technical, health, welfare and social development institutions, with the vision of forming disciplined persons with a spiritual foundation who remain “fully alive and fully human”.
DMI College of Education came into existence in 2001 with B.Ed. courses in Tamil, English, Mathematics, Biological Science, Physical Science, Computer Science, History, Sociology, Social Science, Geography, Commerce, Economics and Home Science. The institution has a spacious campus of 55 acres, more than double the stipulated area of NCTE, providing a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
The college encourages students to participate in placement training programmes, workshops, seminars and conferences, and gives importance to faculty development programmes, thus ensuring continuous renewal and professional growth for the entire academic community.

The B.Ed. programme at DMI College of Education follows the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University curriculum with a strong focus on pedagogy, practicum and school internship.
